Body-mapping, 'your journey's etched on your skin'
Workshop synopsis:
Every body has a story; we all carry life’s scars within us and upon us. These physical and emotional scars act as a visual narrative, helping us tell our story. First developed for those dealing with HIV/Aids, an adaptation is now used as a reflective tool, to help address such issues as self-image, illness, self-care and trauma, and many more issues.
In this experiential workshop, participants will create full-size body tracings, and will place up it, elements of past, present and future, as well as support, power symbols, pain areas, physical and emotional marks or scars (some visible, some not), places we feel emotions and other symbols that help to visually tell our story.
Who could benefit from the workshop?
Those struggling with addiction, trauma, grief or any of life’s challenges will benefit from this workshop. As a counsellor, I will be ready to help you along as the day progresses, creatively and therapeutically.
