What can you expect from the counselling process?
Since everyone is unique, the counselling process is tailor-made for each client. As with every treatment plan, there is a beginning, a middle and an end.
The first session is taken up by going over the in-take form, a process which gathers information about you; your age, relationship status, spirituality, physical and mental health concerns, and reasons why you are seeking counselling, just to name a few. This information helps me understand you better, helps me to create an over-all treatment plan, as well as individual sessions plans. The middle part of treatment (this is where the real work gets done!) sees us working during individual sessions on issues that will help you better to function in your everyday life and help you better relate to those around you. We will work with methods that best suited your personality, style and interest. Journaling, art and group therapy are just some of the techniques, as well as different models of counselling, that might be used to work through your specific issues. The ending of treatment is decided upon together and often is a time to reflect upon all that has been achieved from our work; kudos, for all your hard earned insight!
